David Jones was born December 17, 1950. He grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. He attended St. Mary's University School of Law, where he served as a member of the Law Journal. He graduated with a J.D. in 1979, and was elected to membership in the John W. Harlan Society in recognition of superior academic achievement. He began his legal career as an associate in the Houston office of Fulbright & Jaworski, and transferred to the San Antonio office in 1984. There he served as head of the Tort Litigation Section, supervising a group of 12 attorneys, until leaving that firm to form Jones Kurth, Andrews & Ortiz. Mr. Jones has spoken extensively at seminars and written numerous seminar papers on a variety of litigation issues. Mr. Jones has a great amount of trial experience, having tried approximately 100 cases to a jury verdict. He is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in both Personal Injury Trial Law and Civil Trial Law. Mr. Jones is also licensed to practice in Oklahoma.
Dan Andrews was born September 20, 1963, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended college in San Antonio at Trinity University, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in 1985. He attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he was accepted to membership on the Law Review. Mr. Andrews received his J.D. with highest honors in 1988, and was in the Order of the Coif, graduating in the top ten percent of his class. He joined the San Antonio office of Fulbright & Jaworski, serving under David Jones in the Tort Litigation Section. He left Fulbright & Jaworski in March 1991 to join the Firm, and he became a shareholder in Jones, Andrews & Ortiz in January 1994.
Since joining Jones, Andrews & Ortiz, Mr. Andrews has handled a wide variety of cases, including premises liability, automobile accidents, insurance bad faith, workers' compensation, and insurance coverage litigation. He has also worked on a number of cases involving allegations of negligent security against property owners. He has written numerous papers on insurance and automobile litigation and frequently lectures on these subjects. Mr. Andrews is also a certified mediator, and is licensed to practice in Texas and Oklahoma.
Ray Ortiz was born September 11, 1964 in Del Rio, Texas, and was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management in 1986. He attended the University of Texas School of Law and graduated in 1988. He served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Victoria, Texas, until February 1993, when he joined Jones, Andrews & Ortiz. He became a shareholder in January 1998. Mr. Ortiz handles a wide variety of litigated matters, as well as having extensive experience in public law. He has litigated a large number of cases involving municipalities, counties, and school districts. He also serves as City Attorney for the City of Converse, Texas. Mr. Ortiz is licensed in both Texas and Oklahoma.
Holly Shull was born February 10, 1971, in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1995, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked in the insurance business as an adjuster for USAA, and then attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 1999. While attending law school she was inducted as a member of Phi Delta Phi, an honorary legal fraternity. She worked for several years as an Assistant District Attorney for Bexar County in the Criminal Trial Division. She joined Jones, Andrews & Ortiz in February 2003. Since then, Ms. Shull has primarily handled first party and third party insurance litigation. Her case load has included arson claims, fraud, foundation damage and automobile accidents. Ms. Shull is licensed in both Texas and Oklahoma.
Benjamin G. Kemble was born on July 20, 1977 in San Antonio, Texas. He obtained Bachelor of Arts degrees in Japanese and English from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999. After working for the Japanese Ministry of Education in Japan, he was accepted into the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, where he obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence With Honors in 2005. While at UT Law, Mr. Kemble served as Articles and Notes Editor, and ultimately Executive Editor of the Texas International Law Journal (TILJ). He was also privileged to have had his Student Note published in the 40th Volume of TILJ. Mr. Kemble is licensed in Texas and Oklahoma, and is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Texas Association of Defense Counsel. He joined Jones, Andrews & Ortiz in August 2005.
Frank Greer was born on September 24, 1973, in Ft. Hood, Texas. He is a graduate of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (B.S.N., Magna Cum Laude, 1999), and St. Mary's University School of Law (J.D., 2004). Prior to attending law school, he worked as a Registered Nurse in some of San Antonio’s emergency rooms. While attending law school, he participated in Mock Trial and Moot Court Competitions. He has experience in auto accidents, trucking accidents, medical malpractice and healthcare law. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas Insurance Law Section; San Antonio Bar Association; Texas Young Lawyers' Association; American Bar Association; San Antonio Federal Bar Association; and Mexican American Bar Association. He is also a member of the San Antonio Bar Association’s Medical-Legal Liaison Committee and the Fee Dispute Committee. He joined Jones, Andrews & Ortiz, P.C., in 2007, and specializes in Insurance Defense, Insurance Coverage, Products Liability, Fire Insurance, Casualty Insurance and Insurance Bad Faith. Mr. Greer also serves as the Prosecutor for the City of Converse. He is licensed by the Texas State Bar and has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.
John Sudyka was born March 3, 1954. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977, and then attended St. Mary’s School of Law. He received a J.D. in 1983, and began working in the San Antonio office of Fulbright & Jaworski, where he primarily handled real estate matters. Since coming to Jones, Andrews & Ortiz, Mr. Sudyka has assisted on cases involving insurance coverage litigation, insurance bad faith, business law, real estate, and commercial litigation.
Liza McGinn was born April 17, 1967, in San Antonio, Texas. She attended college at St. Mary’s University, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1989. She was a school teacher in the Southside Independent School District in San Antonio until 2003. She then attended St. Mary’s University School of Law and received her J.D. in 1996. She joined the San Antonio office of Walsh, Anderson, Brown, Schulze & Aldridge, P.C., and practiced in the area of general litigation and school law until 2002. She then joined the Mauzé Law Firm where she practiced civil litigation, focusing on medical malpractice and nursing home cases. In 2005, she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she joined Jones, Andrews & Ortiz as of counsel, assisting on a variety of cases, including insurance bad faith, insurance coverage litigation, and automobile accident cases. She is licensed to practice in both Texas and Oklahoma.
